This painting began with a question: “Do you do paintings without aircraft?” ! And this was in a gallery exhibiting my aviation paintings!
It turned out it was to be a surprise present for my patron’s dear friend. After agreeing on a price, I was supplied with information and references of things that the person loved and admired. My task was to combine them in a scene, including a portrait of the lady driving a tractor. As it happens a Spitfire flew into the scene, as this represents the gentleman who commissioned the painting!
I was told that Sally Ann loves the painting and thought the likeness spot on, despite being just over an inch high!
