The final display and disbandment of No. 208 Squadron on the Blackburn Buccaneer occurred at RAF Lossiemouth on 26 March 1994, marking the end of 25 years of RAF service.

The event featured a spectacular nine-ship formation with specially painted aircraft representing various Buccaneer squadrons, a series of airfield attacks, and a final flypast.

Afterward, the aircraft taxied through the crowds, turned into line, and folded their wings together on the leader’s command as their sixteen Spey engines wound down in unison.

“The Last Crew-In” drawing shows the ground crew strapping in the pilots and navigators for this final, emotional display.

I was part of the press party, allowed to go behind the scenes and took many reference images, on which this drawing is based.
