It was suggested that I portray the Panavia Tornado F3, the swing-wing fighter version of the aircraft. As the F3 was basically the same type as that in the RAF, I had plenty of reference images to go by. A handy 1/48 scale model aircraft kit proved useful, as I needed to portray the Saudi aircraft from a certain angle, showing its desert base (Dhahran) below.
More difficult was accurately depicting the Arabic wording on the aircraft and national markings!
I was pleased with the result – as was the customer – and as far as I know, it’s still on display on a desert air base wall.
