One Perfect Day

Iona is one of those perfectly peaceful and beautiful places that is so special. Every time we spend time on the Isle of Mull, making the short, 10 minute ferry crossing to the Isle of Iona is a MUST. The beaches of the North End a mile or so from the ferry have incredible white sands and turquoise seas. This was my partner’s first visit and conditions were idyllic: hardly any clouds, crystal clear water, the lightest of breezes, with the sea gently lapping in, so quiet. Until…. BOOM and the sound of thunder! A 12 Squadron Tornado GR4 shot over at tree-top height – what a contrast! I painted the landscape (and us) – so peaceful but then had to add the aircraft for effect!
