I’ve always had a ‘thing’ for the Buccaneer – partly because it’s such an incredible aircraft and partly as it has family connections. A relative was involved in introducing the Buccaneer to RAF service. He was to become ‘Boss’ of 12 Squadron at RAF Honington. Ian Henderson was to be chosen as Buccaneer display pilot – with a reputation for some extraordinary displays!

In this painting I’ve shown the Bucc at low altitude – later specialising at such heights over the sea in a maritime attack role.

This is in gouache, with a dry brush technique for the background – giving a speed effect.
