I spent some time around RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland, for the retirement of the RAF’s Buccaneer force.12 Squadron disbanded, followed by 208 Squadron a short time after.
It was at this time I spent a while at the end of the runway (on a Pillbox) absorbed by the aerial activity – plenty of Jaguars, Starfighters, etc. But it was the Bucc that was the star, the diva.
One of my favourite memories was this ‘tanker’ coming in – the pose full of power and drama. Another image that HAD to be captured.
I always learn something about creating a drawing or painting – getting to know the aircraft’s form intimately. This was no exception!
