While I was attending a fly-in at Breighton Airfield (The Real Aeroplane Company) I was wandering around the static display when I saw this scene and HAD to paint it! A new pilot was receiving instruction on an obviously a pretty warm day.
This personal, intimate conversation (oblivious to the public) was what grabbed my attention. This, and the superb warbird: the Vought Corsair, in such a sublime condition.
The title came to me before I started the painting (ice cream AND the value of the aircraft!). I much enjoyed doing this gouache, the main challenge was trying to convey the reflections on the glossy aircraft
