I was at RAF Lossiemouth in 1993 (was it really that long ago?) to see the retirement of 12 Squadron’s Buccaneers. During this time I was able to get access to various parts of the airfield, a highlight was being close to the runways.
Little did I realise then that this was the last time I was to see F-104s (Italian), A-7s (Greek) but more importantly, the RAF’s Jaguars!
I took some great close-up photo’s, and felt that this one would make a great composition – a great pairs take off, with both 6 Squadron and 16[Reserve] Squadron represented here. I really enjoyed this gouache – with the challenge of a pairs reheat take off.
